After a few steps above, package scenes, ftp upload, unzip online, now you can submit your rendering tasks formally.

Tutorial of submitting Max rendering tasks

Last Updated:2011/4/8

1.Choose the scene files to be rendered

After login, click on "3dsMax Render" on the left menu as shown, and the relevant input entries are described as below:
MAX version: Choose the right version for your scenes.
Render File: Click "select",then go to the folder of your max files and choose a file (*.max) to be rendered. Then click "next" and the system will analyze the default settings in scenes. Also it will check whether the maps/textures/cache files are missing or not.

2. Set up normal rendering parameters

Wait for a few minutes until the analysis is finished, then enter the interface of default rendering parameters(as shown).Details as follow:
A) The version of scene and rendering engine: your max files are already picked out by the system and can't be modified.
B) Names of output file: the names of output files can only be English letters or numbers, and you need to choose the format of output images.
C) Set up for frames, you can choose the sequence frames, specific frames and a single frame.
If you choose the sequence frames, such as from 0 to 150 frames,if the step is 1,it means rendering will start from the 0 frame to the 150th frame;if the step is 5,it means rendering 1 frame every other 5 frames, for example,0, the 5th ,the 10th ,the 15th ...the 150th .

If you choose specific frames: you need to enter the number of specific frames ,which can be separated by comma, for example:"1-20,120" means that rendering from the first frame to the 20th frame and the 120th frame,in total 21 frames.

Note: The number of frames must be positive instead of negative.

D) Size of output images: Width and Length. The system has already analyzed the default size,so there is no need to modify if it's correct.

E) Camera: The system has already analyzed all the cameras in the scenes, you just need choose a camera which you want to render.

F) Options: Choose the options according to your scenes.

G) Language Switch:
If your maps/textures/meshs' filenames contain Chinese/Japanese/Korea, please check it. During rendering, the files will be renamed from Chinese into English. If you don't do this, maps may not be found when you render them by 3dsMax2008 or 3dsMax2009.

H) Found & Lost files list: System will analyze your scenes and show the file names, such as textures, meshes, animation caches on the list. If some files are missing, there will be a red prompting showing "lost" on the top of the "Status" item. If the file is found, it will show "Found". Assume that you forget to upload some files, you can click the "upload" link beside the table,so that you can upload it via the web immediately. Of course, you can use the ftp, then click "refresh" and detect it again until everything is found.

You can click "next" as all the files you need are found. Then enter into the interface of parameter setting of V-Ray(if Vray is the current renderer).

3. V-ray parameter setting
If you render scenes with Vray, you will come to the interface of V-ray configuration as shown. Through it, you can set up for rendering irradiance maps/light caches, or loading vray-maps to render them formally. The details of configuration are the same as the configuration of V-ray. After setting up, click "next".

4. Rendering machine setting

There're two options as shown
A) Render single frame one by one. The system will render your scene frame by frame with a higher priority, you can check the result when finish the first frame. If there is no error, you can click "full-speed rendering" in the task control panel so that the system will assign machines as many as available to render the task without submitting it again.

B) Full-speed rendering. This is for experienced users or the scene has already finished a single frame rendering correctly. The System will immediately assign machines as many as possible to render your scene.

5. Then click "next",rendering task will be submitted to the system. Thus, all the steps of submitting rendering tasks are already finished. After submitting, you will get a task number. You can monitor your process at any time in the mission control layout.
